Poetry 201: Water

Here’s my “submission” for Assignment #1 of Poetry 201, a haiku with the theme of water.

 Plip, plop, plip, plop, plip

An incessant drum beating

Quietly tuned out

Are you participating in Poetry 201? Let me know in the comments, and feel free to tell me your thoughts on what’s possibly my first ever haiku!

I was walking through the market earlier in the rain and could not for the life of me think of a drip drop (nor plip plop) haiku. Well done 🙂

What you do best here, I think, is help us to hear the water dripping. I think it helped that you used “plip” and “plop” which are not the typical “drip” and “drop” 🙂
